We Can Do It In Gabon…Asamoah Gyan

Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has admitted the enormity of the group the country finds itself for the Gabon 2017 championship after the AFCON draw last week.

He described the group as tough but hinted that the mentality of the team currently to end the over three decades of trophy famine has been the driving force in the January soccer festival.

Gyan revealed in an interview that “It is a tough group, I don’t think any Ghanaian will say it is an easy group. “But as you know, we are determined to win the trophy. For us, that is our main target.”

“You know it’s been a long time since the country won the Afcon title. “We want to end that by winning the tournament in Gabon. It’s not going to be easy, but I believe we can do it.”

On January 17, Ghana will kick off their campaign against Uganda, a side that has proven to be a tough customer lately before facing Mali four days later and then wrap up the group stage with a date with another perennial foe-Egypt on January 25.

The African soccer fiesta runs between January 14 and February 5 next year.
