This year’s edition of the Oguaa Fetu Afahye which is celebrated by the people of Cape Coast in the Central Region, will take place from August 28 to September 4 this year.
The celebration which is under the theme: ‘Falling Standards of Education in the Cape Coast Metropolis – The Stake Holders Responsibilities’, will kick off with on Saturday, August 28 with massive clean-up exercise between 6:00am and 10:00am, followed by a harvest procession by market women from Kotokroba market to Emintsimadze Palace.
Other activities lined-up include an Akwaaba night and choral concert in honour of the late Osabarima Kwadwo Mbra V from 5:00pm to 9:00pm at Emintsimadze Palace on Sunday, August 28.
On Monday, August 29, there will be a youth day and vigil at Nana Fosu Shrine, followed by regatta/ bakatue and ‘Fante Fante’ party (kenkey party) and health screening from 8:00am on Tuesday, August 30.
There will be a women’s day at Ato Austin Gardens from 10:00am and a vigil to be held at Nana Paprata’s Shrine from 8:00pm on Thursday, September 1.
On Friday, September 2, there will be street a carnival through the principal street of Cape Coast at from 11:00am as well as old musical jams at Da Dreeze from 8:00pm till day break.
Come Saturday, September 3, there will be a grand durbar at Victoria Park at 3:00pm, followed by Miss Afahye, also to be held at 8:00pm. A non-denominational church service will be held at Victoria Park, followed by a football match between Vipers and Dwarfs on Sunday, September 4.
