Captain Planet
Musician, Captain Planet, a member of the iconic hip-life group, 4×4, has described as troubling a surge in youth involvement in violent and organised crime across the country.
In a post on X, the artist questioned the growing trend of young people being linked to armed robbery, drug dealings, fraud, kidnapping and human trafficking, while expressing deep concern about the direction Ghanaian society is heading towards.
“What’s happening in Ghana?” Captain Planet asked. “The young guys are turning to armed robbers, drug dealers, fraudsters, kidnappers & human traffickers. That’s all I see on blogs these days. WHY?”
The outspoken musician suggested that the lure of quick wealth and shortcuts to success may be driving the phenomenon, cautioning young people against embracing criminal lifestyles.
“NO SHORTCUT TO HEAVEN,” he added, underscoring the consequences of choosing crime over hard work and integrity.
Captain Planet’s comments come amid increasing public discourse about youth unemployment, social pressure and the glorification of fast money on social media, factors many believe are contributing to rising crime rates.
