The Private Newspaper Publishers Association of Ghana (PRINPAG) has announced changes to the leadership of the organization.
The national executives of PRINPAG have appointed a three-member team with the mandate to run the day-to-day administration of PRINPAG, embark on a re-organization exercise and organize the next general elections to elect substantive officers to run the affairs of the association before the end of the year.
The three-member team comprises Kenteman Nii Laryea Sowah, President; Elorm Desewu, General Secretary and Douglas Ligas as the Treasurer.
In another development, the PRINPAG NEC has nominated Elorm Desewu of the Economy Times to represent the private press on the National Media Commission (NMC) in accordance with the requirements of the 1992 Fourth Republican Constitution.
He would replace Gina Blay, who was the immediate past representative of PRINPAG on the National Media Commission, to round–up her remaining term for the next 18 months.
Similarly, the NEC has nominated Mrs. Edith Dankwa of the Business & Financial Times to represent PRINPAG on the Board of the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN-IFRA) alongside Kenteman Nii-Laryea Sowah, who shall continue to serve as a member of the Committee of Director of the global umbrella body.
The membership of Edith Dankwa on the WAN-IFRA Board has since been communicated to the headquarters in Frankfurt, Germany.
“PRINPAG wishes to express their profound gratitude to the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on the appointment of the President of the Association Mrs. Gina Blay as Ghana’s Ambassador to Germany.
“PRINPAG takes this opportunity to thank the government of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for recognizing the role of the private print media owners in Ghana, especially the immense contribution of Mrs. Gina Blay to media freedom and democratic governance,” Kenteman Nii Laryea Sowah (SGD), Acting President said.
