The chief of Hansua in the Brong-Ahafo Region, Nana Apenteng Fosu Gyeabour, has constructed a clinic for the Techiman Senior High School at a cost of GH¢200,000.

Speaking during the commissioning of the project, Nana Gyeabour disclosed that he decided to build the facility to help address the healthcare needs of the students, who always have to travel all the way to the Holy Family Hospital for medical treatment, thereby, missing classes.

He said he visited the school one day and saw a student being carried on the shoulders of a teacher to the roadside to look for a car to convey the student to the hospital.

According to him, he contacted the school authorities who consented to give him a portion of land within the school premises to construct the facility.

He seized the opportunity to appeal to all Ghanaians, particularly philanthropists and corporate bodies, to also contribute their quota in their own small way to complement government’s effort.

Nana Gyeabour, also a retired graduate teacher, added that the time has come for every Ghanaian to put his or her shoulders to the wheels irrespective of one’s political affiliation.

The Municipal Chief Executive of Techiman Municipal Assembly, John Kofi Donyina, thanked the chief for his kind gesture and called on businessmen/women and corporate bodies to emulate the chief’s worthy example.

He pointed out that with the introduction of the Free SHS, intakes in all schools have shot up and as such a facility like the clinic would go a long way to help in the health needs of the students.

Mr Donyina, an old student of the school, called on other members of the community to support the clinic by donating drugs and other medical equipment.

The Twafohene of Techiman Traditional Area, Nana Afena Nketia, who chaired the occasion on behalf of the Omanhene of Techiman Traditional Area, was full of praises for the gesture and promised that he would also donate some computers to the school’s computer laboratory under construction if the project is completed.
