Nana Daade Agyiriwaa, Chief of Akwamu-Amanfo, near Adoagyiri in the Eastern Region, is currently seeking refuge in a different town following alleged assassination attempts by unknown assailants.

According to her, the Mankrado and the Mmerantehene of the area have instigated the youth against her.

DAILY GUIDE learnt that the Mankrado and Mmeratehene in the community accused the chief of selling family lands to developers and vowed to destool her some months ago.

The opposition faction, after chasing out the chief, slaughtered a sheep to purportedly signify her destoolment amid death threats.

On Wednesday, the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Council, led by the Gyasehene, stormed the community to perform counter traditional rites to nullify the action of the opposing faction.

During the performance of the counter traditional rites, stones and sticks were reportedly hurled at them amidst gunshots, damaging some properties and causing injuries.

Members of the delegation, including the chief, were forced to leave the town under police escort.

Nana Daade Agyiriwaa, who has ruled the area for the past nine years, in an interview with DAILY GUIDE at Suhum, accused the police at Nsawam of failing to resolve the matter.

Nana Agyiriwaa noted that her outfit would petition the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and the National Security to address the incessant threats on her life and insecurity in the area.
