GLOBAL Anchor foundation, a non-governmental organization founded on the 14th of August 2014 by Miss Esther Bentumaa Ofosu, to breach the gap between rural and urban education has officially been launched in the Suhum Municipality of the Eastern Region.
The organisation which shares the aspirations of the global community as it has been highlighted in the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 4 aimed “to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all”.
The President of the Foundation, Miss Esther Bentumaa, speaking during the launching at the Suhum Community center noted that, the goal of the foundation cannot be left to the government alone to achieve. ‘’Therefore, as members of the community in particular and the nation in general, we are of the view that we can achieve this non-negotiable goal by combining efforts and resources. It our hope and dream that the successes attained by other schools in the world would be replicated in schools within the Municipality’’.
According to her, Global Anchor Foundation envision a world in which every human being has the right to be protected, develop their innate potential free from coercion and intimidation, added that, the ultimately be given equal opportunities to also contribute his or her quota to their community and the nation at large.
‘’Today begins a new chapter into that never-ending journey to merge those words with the conditions of our age and time. History tells us that fortune favors the brave, so we cannot continue to sit and wait for someone to solve our problems. Just as the flame burning on top of a candle can serve as a great source of light for other candles that are yet to be lighted, we seek to inspire, uplift, empower and guide children and youth in their journey to achieve immediate and self-sustaining changes in their lives’’.
She however, expressed that, over the years of their existence have undertaken projects like the pre-exam tips for B.E.C.E. candidates, the dare to be different seminar, career mentoring programs and many others which have yielded positive results in the lives of the attendees.
The chairman of the event, Mr. Debrah Boafo, Director of Akooko Mines in his addressed commneded the young lady’s effort for having such a big dream of establishing the foundation to help the needy with the aimed to enhance and improve quality education in the Municipality.
The occasion was graced by the Municipal chief executive, Margret Ansei, some traditional rulers and among other opinion leaders in the country.
