‘CHPS Compound, Toilets Are NDC Policies’

THE NATIONAL Youth Organizer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, has urged all supporters of the party to ignore any move by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to come back to power since they have nothing good to offer the nation.

According to Nana B, as he is affectionately called, the NDC members boast of toilets and community health planning service (CHPS) compounds as their only social interventions.

He said this to teeming supporters of the NPP party after a health walk at Techiman on Saturday. The health walk was organised by the First Vice Chairman of the party in the Brong Ahafo Region, Kwame Baffoe aka Abronye DC.

Addressing the supporters at the Methodist Park after the walk through some principal streets of Techiman, the national youth organizer said the NPP government under President Akufo-Addo had implemented good policies and programmes that would improve the lives of Ghanaians.

He said the NDC under the leadership of John Mahama could only mention toilets and CHPS compounds as their social intervention polices even though they tout themselves as social democrats.

According to him, all social intervention policies and programmes being enjoyed by the people were introduced by the NPP. He did mention Free Maternal Care, School Feeding Programme, LEAP, NaBCo and the almighty Free SHS, among others.

He assured the people that the 2019 budget presented to Parliament has good plans to create jobs to meet their aspirations.

Addressing the crowd, the Regional Chairman, Thomas Adu-Appiah, was happy the party is still vibrant in the region.

He wondered:  “What couldn’t Mahama do in all the positions he has held so far? He has been an assemblyman, deputy minister, minister, Member of Parliament, Member of ECOWAS Parliament, vice president and finally president. What else does he want to come back to do in four years’ time?” He called for unity among members and asked them to eschew suspicion and backbiting.

On his part, Abronye DC said the NDC used IMF conditionality as an excuse to starve the people of employment, but with Nana Addo, more nurses and teachers have been employed. He praise the government for introducing NaBCo and gave an assurance that more people would be employed beginning from next January.

He accused the NDC of mismanaging the economy when it was in power. Also, he lauded the 2019 budget.

“Government is going to strengthen the grassroots starting from polling stations and constituency executives with resources so that you can do effective campaign for victory in 2020”, he declared.

Other speakers were Regional Secretary, Kofi Owusu Boateng, MCE for Techiman, Alex Donyina and former MP for the area, Prof Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi.
