Anthony Yaw Oppong, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (CIB), has disclosed that the institute will introduce a new curriculum in 2019.

Speaking at the graduation of 59 students of the 2016/17 year group at the CIB auditorium last Saturday, Mr Oppong indicated that the introduction of the new syllabus is in line with its mandate to establish and maintain world-class education for persons engaged in banking or financial services sector.

According to him, the revision would also help the members, who have been certified as Associate Chartered Institute of Bankers (ACIB) to specialize.

Mr Oppong said that management has already introduced Risk Management as a fifth option in the curriculum, which will be examinable from April 2018.

The CEO further stated that the Institute has cut the sod for the construction of an ultramodern office complex, which will comprise lecture rooms to promote modern trends in teaching and learning.

Speaking on activities for the year, he mentioned the successful conduct of professional examinations, certificate and access course, internship and On-the-Job training programmes for bank staff in Accra and Kumasi.

“So far we can boast of training a total of 443 persons at various levels and grades in the banking and financial services sector and have to our credit the successful organization of four international and 32 local training programmes in the year,” he remarked.

Rev Mrs Patricia Sappor, FCIB, President of the CIB, called on the students to contribute to meeting the expectations of employers.

Mrs Sappor further called on them to be an embodiment of change and innovation through setting achievable goals.
