HEAVY FLOODS, caused by a torrential rainfall in Kumasi on Saturday night, has claimed one life.
A coconut seller, who operates at the Abinkyi Market in Kumasi, was reportedly washed away by the floods.
The body of the deceased, identified as Kwadwo Kru, believed to be in his mid 20s, has since been found after a wild search, and deposited at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) morgue for autopsy.
Eyewitnesses said a certain man gave Kru a wild chase for no apparent reason when it was raining heavily and during the chase, Kru was said to have fallen into a stream around the Abinkyi Market area and was not seen again.
The stream, which had then overflown its banks due to the heavy rains, swiftly swept Kru away.
There was a wild search throughout Saturday night to help locate Kru but to no avail. The body was later found on the banks of the stream on Sunday.
Meanwhile, reports indicated that the man who gave Kru the chase which led to his death, has been arrested by the police.
