The Executive Director of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), Commissioner of Police (COP) Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo Danquah, has led a group of August borns in the Ghana Police Service to donate various items and a cash of GH¢20,000 to Ark Foundation.
The birthday celebrants included DCOP Vance Gariba, Director in charge of ICT at the Police Headquarters; ACP (Rtd) Edem Hiadzi of Lister Hospital; Chief Superintendent Dr. Alex Ackon, Obstetrician and Gynecologist, Police Hospital; and Superintendent Dr. Adjoa Nuro–Panin, Psychologist, Police Hospital.
Items presented included bags of rice, detergents, toiletries, beverages, biscuits, bathroom slippers, pampers among others.
DCOP Gariba in an address said it is fulfilling to give back to society.
“As August born group, we met and as we were thinking of how to celebrate our birthday, the idea of donation came to mind, and instead of partying in a restaurant, we decided to donate to Ark Foundation, an organsation we already have an existing relationship with as a result of our daily work,” he stated.
He commended Ark Foundation for their continuous support to vulnerable women and children, and added that whatever vision they have set would be achieved.
Executive Director of Ark Foundation, Dr. Angela Dwamena Aboagye in an address said the foundation started operating in 1995, and currently have a shelter in the Eastern Region for victims of abuse.
She said their main focus is to work with victims of abuse, particularly women and children, and also do other work to support the Ghana Police Service in some critical aspect of their operations.
She said the items would go a long way to assist victims receiving shelter at the foundation, and thanked the birthday celebrants for supporting the foundation.
