The Coalition of Supporters Unions of Africa (COSUA), which is in Partnership with the African Union to use sports to build African unity, has outlined its objective of using the 2018 African Women’s Cup of Nations to canvass for Morocco’s bid for the 2030 World Cup as an African unity project.

Speaking to the media at the Ambassador Movenpick Hotel in Accra yesterday, the Founder and President of COSUA, Lawyer Sarfo Abebrese said the organization is finalizing funding arrangements to sponsor about 2,000 members of COSUA Ghana with game tickets and Tee-shirts to each of the 5 matches the Black Princesses will be playing in the tournament.

In addition, COSUA, which has a presence in 50 African countries, aims at sponsoring up to 50 members from each of the other participating countries, to support their respective teams.

“The organization hopes to follow this up with the sponsorship of about 2,000 Africans to France next year to support the 3 African teams that will qualify for the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup”, Abebrese said.

He noted that COSUA will hold a press conference in Accra sometime next week to formalize these arrangements, as soon as the funding is made available to the group.

Ghana is hosting Algeria, Cameroun, Nigeria, Kenya, Zambia, Mali and South Africa in the 2018 AWCON tournament from 17th November to 1st December 2018, to decide which 3 nations qualify to represent Africa in the Women’s World Cup in France.
