Cultivate Spirit Of Forgiveness – Christians Urged

The National Chairman of the Pentecostal Church of Christ (PCC), Apostle Dominic Nyamekye, has urged Christians to cultivate a spirit of forgiveness, letting go of grudges and bitterness.

According to him, forgiveness is not only a command from Jesus but a fundamental aspect of Christianity, adding that believers should strive to forgive others as Christ forgave those who wronged him.

The PCC Chairman’s message served as a reminder to Christians to reflect on their relationship and interactions with others.

“The crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ, to bring man closer to his Creator, made it imperative for his followers to show love, care and affection for all,” the Apostle said.

The revered man of God made the call during the climax of the church’s four-day national Easter convention held at Asonomaso Presbyterian School Park in the Kwabre South District of the Ashanti Region.

Speaking on the theme: “Redeemed”, which was taken from the book of Galatians 3:13, he posited that, Christians’ redemption came through Jesus Christ, who died on the cross to forgive mankind of their sins.

Redemption, he stated, signifies being bought back or rescued from a state of bondage or slavery, which in context refers to the consequences of sin and the separation from God.

He urged the congregation to renew their lives with the resurrection of Christ since the cardinal message in Easter was Christ dying and resurrecting. “Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, cursed is anyone that hung on a tree,” he stressed.

He also enjoined them to lead lives that would bring dignity and honour to the Christian religion.

President John Dramani Mahama, in a speech delivered by Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, noted that the death and resurrection of Christ teaches lessons of humility, service, and leadership through sacrifice.

“Jesus Christ laid down His life not for personal gain but for the good of all humanity. That is the heart of selflessness, service, and true leadership,” he said.

Former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu, called on Christians to live lives worthy of their calling, echoing the theme of the convention, “Redeemed.”

“If we are truly redeemed, then it must show in our actions, our words, and how we serve each other and the nation,” he said.
