Davido (right) and Daddy Lumba
Nigerian music star Davido has honoured the late Ghanaian highlife legend Daddy Lumba during his 5Five Alive Tour in Toronto, Canada.
During his performance over the weekend, Davido played some of Lumba’s popular songs, including ‘Aben Wo Ha’, and dedicated the moment to the late musician. The crowd cheered and sang along as Davido praised Daddy Lumba’s influence on African music.
Daddy Lumba, whose real name was Charles Kwadwo Fosu, died in the early hours of Saturday, July 26, 2025, after a short illness.
Many public figures have also paid tribute, including current President John Mahama, ex-President Nana Akufo-Addo, former Vice President Dr Bawumia, Musician Rocky Dawuni and Nana Acheampong and Tourism Minister Dzifa Gomashie.
A family statement described Lumba as more than just a musician — a cultural icon whose music touched many lives. Funeral details will be announced at the appropriate time.
