Deceitful Shenanigans

Desperation triggers befuddlement, the former triggering the latter. That is the palpable state in which the NDC find itself today hence its groping in the dark shenanigans of late.

With its campaign strategy in disarray, it is pushing to the front burner ad hoc tricks in the form of newfound promises. At this eleventh hour, its promises of free tertiary education, previously not on the agenda of the party is evidence of the grouping’s sorry state.

In the past few days, the propaganda department of the opposition party, powered by hi-tech social media has been firing from all cylinders.

Unfortunately, though they are not hitting the bull’s eye; their shots all falling short of the target, the reason being that there is no truth to oxygenate their project.

The smear campaigns against President Akufo-Addo is an all-time high and in a manner which has left wise observers wondering why politics has degenerated at the hands of the former President and his team.

The aim of the NDC project is to present President Akufo-Addo as an opposite of how Ghanaians regard him. Complex and even simple efforts have been put in place and as observed earlier, all to no avail.

Perhaps the brains behind the project should have started earlier. Doing what they are doing now only shows that desperation has been activated.

The tangible and intangible achievements of President Akufo-Addo since assuming the reins of political power are not difficult to discern. This is what is hampering the success of the NDC project whose timing is ill-advised as it manifests mischief.

Former President Jerry Rawlings who passed on recently identified the shortcomings of the party, perhaps expecting the leadership of the NDC to work towards their reversal. The leadership continues to allow young men with insufficient experience in human relations to be at the arrowhead of the party’s affairs. The acid mouth and sharp teethed youth continue to call the shots for the party to its detriment.

A few days ago, after the failure of other items on the project, an announcement was made about a mother of all scandals in the pipeline.

When it finally made landfall, as it were, it quickly exposed the techniques used—too crude and rudimentary—the intention was palpable.

There is no doubt that the NDC has been hurt by the corruption tag its flag bearer has festooned around his neck. All that must be done to ensure the so-called political equalisation must be done. This accounts for the desperate state of the party and the many pitfalls it is encountering as it struggles to win the minds of Ghanaians.

The Free SHS straddles the country like a colossus, to pick from the language arsenal of Shakespeare. No amount of image smear will stick, we can bet.
