Denkyira Chiefs Purify Murder Town

A scene from the lynching incident

The Denkyira Traditional Council in the Central Region has scheduled June 5, 2017 for the purification of the town where the gruesome murder of Captain Maxwell Adams Mahama took place on Monday.

According to the chiefs, the murder has desecrated the land and so need to purify the area to ensure that the gods do not get angry with them and also help to arrest the murderers.

The Krontihene of Denkyira Traditional Area, Odiamono Ntire Twum-Barima II, made this known during a press conference at Diaso yesterday.

He assured the entire country that the harsh attack on their soil was an attack on the culture and tradition of Denkyira and therefore extended his sincere sympathy to the family of the fallen solider.

“The Denkyira Traditional Council has expressed shock and outrage at the barbaric killing of the army captain and therefore promises to support the government to investigate the matter to the letter,” he stated.

The chiefl also called on the government to act with dispatch to quell the growing culture of impunity in the country.

He urged the people of Denkyira-Obuasi, where the dastardly act happened, to fully cooperate with the security agencies as they work to arrest the perpetrators.

He added that the traditional council has confidence in the DCE of the area, Daniel Appiani, and appealed to those calling for his removal to stop.

He appealed to the government to make those who have run away from the town to come back and support the government and the traditional council to do their investigations.
