Don Little
Actor Don Little says he narrowly escaped arrest in Addis Ababa after a mix-up while trying to exchange money.
Arriving in Ethiopia with only Ghana cedis, he asked a passerby to help convert his cash into local currency. Instead, he was accused of being a thief, and the police were called.
The situation was defused when another bystander identified him as a Ghanaian actor, preventing his detention.
Don Little has advised travellers always to carry foriegn currency, saying his experience could have ended badly had help not arrived in time.
“That was how I had my freedom. But for that person, I would have been arrested and charged. Ghanaians would have had their last laugh over me, all because I was very hungry and had no cash apart from Ghana cedis. I didn’t change money because I didn’t know the waiting time would be extended,” he added.
