Salam Mustaph
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has urged Ghanaian youth not to fall prey to the antics and deception of former President John Dramani Mahama and his National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The NPP Deputy National Youth Organiser, Mustapha Salam, who made the appeal, said Mr. Mahama could not boast of a single programme geared towards youth empowerment under his stewardship, encouraging them to vote to retain the ruling party in government to ensure continuity of the good works.
Speaking to the media yesterday at the NPP’s headquarters in Accra as part of the “Truth and Facts” series, Mr. Salam issued an open challenge to ex-President Mahama to state what he has done for the country’s youth and what he plans to do for them if he wins the 2024 general election.
“This government is serving the youth of this country, and it needs your support to get it right. It is not a ‘ma try ma kwe’ situation, but our collective destinies that are at stake.
“Today, many young people have been given hope because of free SHS and TVET policies, which are turning dreams into possibilities. This is the legacy Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will leave behind, and history will remember him,” he noted.
He stated that, unlike the NDC, the NPP has a clear policy strategy for youth that will be carried out by subsequent NPP governments after ‘breaking the eight’.
No government in the country’s history, he claims, can equal the NPP’s performance under President Akufo-Addo, who has created over 2 million jobs in seven years.
“Since our first government under President Kufuor, we have continuously introduced pro-youth policies like the YEA of today, Ghana Cares Obaatanpa programme, YouStart, Presidential Pitch Programme under NEIP among several others. We have done all these because of our belief in youth development and empowerment,” the NPP Youth Organiser asserted.
He also mentioned various infrastructure improvements initiated by the NPP government, such as the One District, One Factory (1D1F) factory in Adaklu that produces ethanol and was constructed by the NPP government in the Volta Region.
Salam stated that these are part of the country’s programme to combat graduate unemployment.
He also mentioned some road projects, such as the dualisation of the Accra-Kumasi Road from Ofankor to Nsawam, the flyover at Spintex to East Legon to help ease traffic on that stretch, and other magnificent STEM schools built in various districts across the country to improve access to education.
He explained that the “Truth and Facts” series would be held on a regular basis and would deliver honest and truthful facts to millions of young Ghanaians who look to the NPP for hope.
