Meek Mill and Drake
Earlier this month, Meek Mill was sentenced to two to four years in prison after a Philadelphia judge ruled that he violated his probation.
Sunday night, Meek’s (former) rival Drake commented on the sentence. During his ‘Boy Meets World Tour’ stop in Melbourne, Australia, he noticed a fan wearing a ‘Free Meek Mill’ T-shirt.
He said, “Free Meek Mill. You right.”
JAY-Z has called the sentence “unjust and heavy-handed”; he has also penned a New York Times op-ed about the punishment. Meek, meanwhile, has filed a motion to appeal the judge’s decision.
Back in 2015, Meek and Drake entered a long-standing beef after Meek accused Drake of using a ghostwriter for their collaborative track ‘R.I.C.O’., which appeared on Meek’s 2015 album, ‘Dreams Worth More Than Money’. The allegation launched a diss track stand-off between the two, birthing tracks from Drake like ‘Charged Up’ and ‘Back to Back’. When he spoke about the beef in an interview earlier this year, Drake admitted, “It’s not something that I’m proud of because it took just as much of an emotional toll on me.”
