More Endorsements For Chief Hamza

The newly-turbaned Chief Hamza Brimah VIII, head of the Yoruba community in the Greater Accra Region, last Sunday received an endorsement from the Otuopai Mantse who doubles as the Gbese Mankralo, Nii Tetteh Tsuru II, when he and his elders called on the highly respected Chief at his Palace in Accra.

The Chief and his elders advised the new chief to discharge his functions to the best of his abilities and to rest assured that they would cooperate with him to ensure a successful tenure for him.

Leading the Brimahs to the Palace was Yakubu Govi Brimah, head of the Brimah family who had earlier introduced the new chief to the Atukpai Mantse owners of Accra New Town or Lagos Town.

The Atukpai Mantse stated that there have been intermarriages between citizens of Atukpai and the Brimahs, a development which has bonded them as one people.

“Invite us to your functions as we would do same to you whenever we have events at hand,” the Chief told his guests.

Elders and chiefs supporting the chief took turns to make important remarks bordering on the maintenance of their values.

A past Chief, Amida Peregrino-Brimah married into the Atukpai clan – something which was recalled during Sunday’s courtesy call.

Present during the meeting was the yet-to-be outdoored Accra New Town Chief, Nii Obo Adumaku II.

The Yoruba Community has also endorsed the turbaning of the new chief, a decision they said they took after a careful observation of the events before the action.

With the endorsement of the Council of Muslim Chiefs and earlier the National Chief Imam Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, their support of the new chief was only natural.

The President of the Community, Alhaji Musa Baba who led the delegation to go and pay homage to the new chief, implored him to serve his people well and to ensure unity among them.

“We delayed our response to your invitation till today after our fact-finding mission during which we discovered that you were the one nominated by the head of Brimah family and also endorsed by the Council of Muslim Chiefs. You also received the blessings of National Chief Imam. There are enough reasons for the executives of the Yoruba Community, Ghana, to recognize you as the rightfully installed Chief. That is why we have resolved to honour you today.”

The Community, he announced intends to crown the new chief and another title at a date to be determined by the family.

Alhaji Musa Baba urged the new Chief and the Brimahs to, however, resolve to patch up with the rest of the family so that unity would rein. “We do not want to have two chiefs and would rather there is peace among you,” he said.
