A total of 2,400 entries have been received for the 2018 edition of Ghana Make-Up Awards.
Make-Up Ghana, organisers of the award ceremony, described the figure as unprecedented in the history of the award ceremony.
Entries came from various parts of the country. This was after the public was asked to nominate its best make-up artists in various categories ahead of the award in April.
The 2,400 entries will be shortlisted by the Ghana Make-Up Awards’ board before final nominations are released.
The 2018 Make-Up Awards will come off on April 28 at the Kempinski Gold Coast Hotel in Accra.
This year’s awards will be part of a week-long celebration dubbed ‘Make-Up & Beauty Week’ to, among other objectives, highlight the economic impact of the Ghanaian and African make-up and beauty industries.
The Make-Up & Beauty Week is to celebrate, reward and promote stakeholders in the make-up and beauty industry in Ghana. They include artists, brands, retailers, wholesalers, consumers, industry advocates and public sector partners of the make-up and beauty industry in Ghana.
The celebration also includes Africa Make-Up & Beauty Fair (AMB Fair) to showcase and connect the Ghanaian make-up and beauty industry to African and global consumers, vendors, partners and service providers.
It consists of exhibitions, workshops and seminars, training, make-up runway shows and live demos. Exhibitors are also expected from Nigeria and other parts of the continent.
The 2018 Make-Up & Beauty Week is being organised Make-Up Ghana, with the support from the Ministry of Tourism, Arts & Culture.
