Farouk Aliu Mahama
The former Member of Parliament (MP) for the Yendi Constituency, Farouk Aliu Mahama, has made a generous donation to support the final funeral rites of the late Paramount Chief of Mion, Nyab Mion Lana Abdulai Mahamudu.
His contributions include a cash donation of GH¢10,000, along with 10 bags of maize, 10 bags of rice, 5 gallons of cooking oil, 5 cartons of tin tomatoes, 1 bull, and 300 bags of sachet water.
Farouk Aliu Mahama, during his visit to the Mion Palace for the final funeral rites, called on the good people of Dagbon, particularly the youth, to maintain peace and unity, which he highlighted as a lasting legacy of the late Mion Lana.
He noted that ensuring peace in Mion, Yendi, and the wider Dagbon region is crucial for the area’s development.
Chief Mahama Bukari, Kumbaga Naa, on behalf of the palace, thanked the former MP for his generosity and his continuous support for the palace and the family.
The final funeral rites for the late Paramount Chief of Mion, Nyab Mion Lana Abdulai Mahamudu, began on May 23 and expected to end on May 30, 2025.
The late Mion Lana’s death occurred at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra on August 17, 2022, after a short illness.
Nyab Mion Lana Abdulai Mahamudu, died at the age of 48.
According to the Dagbon traditional system for the Dagbon kingship, the Mion Lana would have been the next Ya Na after Ya Na Abukari II.
He was born in 1974 and became Boling-Lana at the age of 14, a day after his father was laid to rest.
Nyab Mion Lana was enskinned as Mion Lana on March 3, 2019.
