FIFA Lawyer, Scout In Ghana… For Duamenefa Tourney

Guedes Ribeiro Lopes Macieirinha Luis Pedro

FIFA lawyer and the publisher of Football Legal, a journal dedicated to international football law, Guedes Ribeiro Lopes Macieirinha Luis Pedro, is the official scout of the 2022 edition of the Duamenefa Regional Tournament of the Volta Region of Ghana.

Pedro, who is coming to Ghana for the first time, was attracted to the Duamenefa Regional Tournament through the kind introduction of Mr. Patrick Doamekpor and Mr. Michael Helegbe.

Patrick, a football expert and analyst based in the USA, is the International Coordinator of the Duamenefa Regional Tournament, while Michael, a former player of the Ghana Black Stars, is the official player agent of the Duamenefa Regional Tournament.

The Duamenefa Regional Tournament is an initiative of Fafaa 100.3 FM, a private commercial radio station in Dzodze, Ketu North Municipality of the Volta Region, with support from its NGO dubbed the Duamenefa Foundation.

The tournament was birthed in 2017 with 47 football teams. In 2018, 77 football teams participated. In 2019, 104 football teams competed in a five-month tournament, the first of its kind in the history of football. The 2022 edition has 61 football teams on the field of play from May 7 to August 27.

The tournament was promoted to its current regional status by the immediate past Regional Director of the National Sports Authority, Mr. Amponfi Kwami Jnr.

Over 30,000 spectators made up of the 28,000 volunteers of the Duamenefa Foundation and relevant stakeholders are always available to grace the occasion.

Mr. Emmanuel Ketaman Evortepe, Executive President of Duamenefa Foundation and Chief Executive Officer of Fafaa FM, told the press that this year’s edition of the tournament will be used to empower over 28,000 peace-building volunteers of the Foundation and their 1,200 officials who will serve on the board as community leaders in over 220 targeted communities of the Volta Region.

Mr. Gabriel Kwamigah Atokple, CEO of Tanko Foundation, is the headline sponsor of the 2022 edition, with support from Mr. Kwakuvi Houlesodji, CEO of Infinity Stars Hotel and Infinity Den Enterprise.

Mr. Pedro’s visit will offer the NSA and GFA an opportunity to explore other avenues of sports development to the benefit of the Volta Region and Ghana.
