The Forestry Commission has donated personal protective equipment (PPEs) and 20 infrared thermometers to the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC) to be used by health facilities within the establishment and the Teshie environs.
The donation is the commission’s contribution towards the Covid-19 fight.
Presenting the items, the Chief Executive officer of the Forestry Commission, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, said since the disease broke out in the country his outfit had contributed materials to many institutions to fight it.
He said hospitals and institutions that had benefited included Achimota Police Station and Hospital, Legon Hospital, Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital and five other hospitals in Kumasi.
“With our good relationship with the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), we are prepared to support you and other health facilities within your jurisdiction,” he said.
He was hopeful the donation would impact positively on healthcare delivery within Teshie and its environs.
The Commandant of the GAFCSC, Rear Admiral Beick – Baffour, expressed the college’s gratitude to the commission for its gesture, pointing out that the commission has supported the GAF in diverse ways.
“Beginning of this year, we received several items including some quantities of wood to produce desk for Shai Osudoku Schools,” he said.
We used part of the wood to also construct car garages for our cars, he said.
Health facilities within Teshie to benefit from the donation include Teshie Medical Research Centre and Family Health University College and Hospital.
Also present were Dr Vladimir Antwi Danso, Dean of the College, John Allotey, the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Forestry Commission and other senior military officers and men.
