THE TEMA Regional Police Command has launched a full-scale investigation to unravel the perpetrators behind the shooting of the immediate past Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Ashaiman, Mr. Ibrahim Baidoo.

‘Magic Bronze’, as he is affectionately called escaped death as he was shot beneath his eye at the main entrance of his house at Community 22 in the Ashaiman Municipality.

He was said to have closed from the Prof. Kwesi Botchwey Committee meeting set up by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to investigate the defeat of the party.

This meeting was held at T-Havana Park in Community 9, Tema on Tuesday night, involving representatives of the party and some party activists from five constituencies including Ashaiman and Kpone-Katamanso.

The three reported attackers on a motorbike were said to have made away with a blue-black Chrysler saloon car with registration number GN 2015-16 which was being driven by the NDC member when the incident occurred.

He was rushed to the Tema General Hospital before referred to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra for medical attention.

Sources close to him told the DAILY GUIDE that he was accosted on April 5, 2017 at about 7:45 pm at the main gate of his house when he was just about entering the house.

The gunmen pointed a pistol at his head and asked him to surrender his properties and alight from the car.

“He put his head and hand on the steer after he was asked to surrender by the three suspects who came on a motorbike. One of the suspects pointed a locally manufactured pistol at his head and started threatening him.

“Suddenly when he was about alighting from the car, his hand hit the gun  and it fired which resulted in some pellets hitting him below his eye and head,” according to the source.

The former MCE took to his heels and abandoned his vehicle which the attackers took away.

The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Command, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Juliana Obeng through a statement is appealing to the general public to furnish police with information leading to the arrest of the suspects.
