Prince Kwabena Kumi
Five persons are currently in the grips of the Eastern Regional police assisting in investigation over the murder of the 34-year-old aircraft engineer with Africa World Airlines (AWA) at Akim Akroso during the Easter season.
The accused persons are Sampson Anim, driver of the Hyundai Grace vehicle that transported the deceased when his (deceased’s) car was impounded for drunk-driving; Ebenezer Asante 32 years; Emmanuel Okyere, 18; Samuel Peprah, 27 and Frank Konadu, 18. They have been put before the Koforidua magistrate court presided over by Eric Daning and have been remanded into prison custody to reappear on 3rd May, 2018.
The fifth accused person, Okyere Kwabena Emmanuel – a final-year senior high school student – was granted a police enquiry bail with two sureties to enable him to write the ongoing WASSCE.
The engineer, whose family is crying for justice, was en-route from Accra to Akyem Asuboa to celebrate the Easter festivities with his family when he met his untimely death.
A source told DAILY GUIDE that some people might have been contracted to murder the AWA engineer. The preliminary investigations established by the regional police command also revealed that he was shot twice in his jaw and chest.
The body of Prince Kwabena Kumi was reportedly discovered with gunshot wounds a few meters from his home during a search by his family.
The report of an autopsy conducted at the Police Hospital on the body of the deceased revealed that he died of hemorrhagic shock as a result of severe jaw and chest inquiries inflicted by gunshots.
A family source confirmed that the deceased was found dead between Akroso and Asuboa with bullet wounds after his car had been seized by the police.
They also alleged that the police prevented Mr Kwabena Kumi from boarding any commercial vehicle home after they had seized his vehicle.
The Oda municipal police commander, Superintendent Samuel Ntosoh, under whose jurisdiction the incident happened, claimed that the police tried to detain the supposedly drunk engineer till he would become sober enough to drive home; but he refused the offer.
The late Prince Kwabena Kumi will be buried on April 28, 2018.
