Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia
The head of Muslims in Offinso Zongo, Sariki Issahaku Kabore, has stated that the implementation of government’s flagship free Senior High Education (SHS) has enormously helped children in Zongo communities across the country.
According to him, prior to the introduction of Free Senior High School (SHS) education programme by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government, children in Zongos across the country were lagging behind their colleagues in other communities due to financial difficulties.
Addressing devout Muslims at Offinso Central Mosque during a visit by Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Sariki Kabore thanked President Akufo-Addo and the NPP government for the initiative, which he said had offered opportunities to Zongo children to escape poverty through education.
Sariki Zongo also prayed to Allah to protect and guide President and his Vice to provide the best leadership for Ghanaians.
Vice President Dr Bawumia, on his part, called for more prayers and blessings for the government in the holy month of Ramadan, pointing out that the President is committed to transforming the nation and building an inclusive society.
According to him, there is no gainsaying that the free SHS programme has benefitted children from the Zongo communities, adding that government had established a special ministry to address the development gap between Zongo communities and others.
He enumerated the achievements of the government in the relatively short period of time in office, asserting that Ghanaians would see massive transformation under the current administration.
Ten bags of rice and sugar, cartons of milk, 100 bags of cement and money were donated to the Muslims in the area.
