THE INTERNATIONAL Youth Fellowship (IYF) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) that will see the latter use contents produced by the former on its media networks.

The two institutions have partnered many times over the years championing youth development through youth-led and youth-driven programmes.

At a brief ceremony in Accra to seal the agreement, Professor Amin Alhassan, Director General, GBC signed the MoU on behalf of his outfit while Rev. Young Jun Moon, Country Director, IYF signed on behalf of the IYF.

The ceremony also saw management of the IYF officially present the ‘Gracias Choir Christmas Concert Movie’ to the GBC to be telecast during the festive season for its cherished viewers.

Shortly after the signing, Prof. Alhassan explained that the MoU signed means that GBC was committing to use contents that IYF would share with them on their networks while building the capacity of officials of their respective organisations.

“The most important thing in the MoU is content,” he stressed, adding “Contents on human development. How do we transform the mindset of the youth to start believing in themselves so they can initiate the changes they desire in society?”

The usual perception of most youth in the country, he bemoaned, is that they believe only government or other prominent people can help them, or make their lives better. But then transforming from poverty to prosperity is something that starts from the mindset of the individual, he underscored.

“As a corporate body, we expect that this relationship will help us build our capacity as a broadcasting corporation while we contribute our quota towards transforming the mindset of our youth,” he added.

Foreign Affairs Minister of IYF, Rev. OH iterated the need for individuals, especially the youth, to believe in themselves, saying when people believe in their hearts they can’t develop, it is an issue of conditioning their minds.

IYF, he assured, has many contents including movies and music as well as mindset education programmes and that through these contents, “we hope to affect people’s mindsets and inspire the desire in them to think more positively and develop their future.”
