The Ghana Community Network Services (GCNet) Limited, the pioneer single window and e-Solutions provider for trade facilitation and revenue mobilization, in conjunction with the African Alliance for Electronic Trade (AACE), will between Tuesday, 3rd October and Thursday, 5th October, 2017, host the 6th International Single Window Conference (ISWC) and Exhibition in Accra.
The three-day conference, supported also by the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MoTI) and the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), is themed, “Trade facilitation agreement and e-Commerce development: the role of the single window as a catalyst.”
Emmanuel Darko, Deputy General Manager, GCNet, at a workshop for some journalists on the single window concept in Accra, said the conference will bring together more than 1,000 participants, including nearly 200 delegates from several African countries and other continents – Europe, America, Asia and Middle East – to discuss best practices regarding the single window and its implementation.
Commending Ghana for blazing the trail in the implementation of the single window concept in Africa since 2003, he mentioned that “the objectives of the conference include raising awareness on the implementation of the single window concept at the global level, its contribution to improvement in company competitiveness and the business climate, sharing information on international standards which underpin single windows and cross-border exchange of date, as well as sharing updates on the progress made so far in other parts of the world such as Asia and Africa.”
Matthew Soputamit, Chief Technical Officer at GCNet, explained that since the single window enhances the trade information sharing among partner agencies both private and public, the country would benefit a lot from it.
Aba Lokko, Head of Communications at GCNet, commended the media for their efforts in educating the public about the single window concept, saying GCNet was committed to partnering them to share accurate information to foster understanding of the single window, especially GCNet’s role in the implementation of the concept.
