GHACEM Limited has donated 1,000 bags of cement to support this year’s National Farmers’ Day celebration that will take place at Kintampo in the Brong-Ahafo Region.
National Farmers’ Day, which has been set aside by government to honour farmers and fishermen who provide food for the people and raw materials for industries to earn foreign exchange, is on the theme: ‘Agriculture; A business response to economic growth.’
Dr. George Dawson-Ahmoah, Strategy and Corporate Affairs Director of GHACEM, who sent congratulatory message to farmers on behalf of the company, underscored the importance of the annual event.
He said, “As the company supports health and education infrastructure in the country through its Cement Foundation initiative, it deemed it appropriate and fair to extend such support to the country’s farmers who are the main backbone of the economy.”
Dr. Dawson-Ahmoah said investment in agriculture was essential for boosting food security to transform the country’s economy.
He urged stakeholders in the agric sector to prevent unfair practices to ensure sustainable and responsible investment to create business opportunities.
The Sector Minister, Alhaji Mohammed-Muniru Limuna, who received the donation on behalf of the Ministry and the National Farmers Day Planning Committee, expressed appreciation to GHACEM for supporting Farmers’ Day celebration over the years.
