The La Beach Hotel in Accra will host the official launch of the 2023 Ghana Music Awards (GMA-UK) on August 4, according to the organisers of the event.

The nominees will also be formally announced at the launch along with other events planned for the awards ceremony, which will take place in London in October.

The awards ceremony, put together by Alordia Promotions and West Coast, seeks to honour musicians, record labels, and other industry professionals for their efforts, commitment, and advancement of Ghana’s music business.

Musicians, representatives from the music and copyright industries, journalists, and some members of the public are expected to attend the launch which will witness live musical performances from some selected artistes.

On April 12, 2023, the Ghana Music Awards UK launched submissions for musicians, producers, and other music industry professionals to submit their work for consideration in the seventh edition. Submissions closed on May 30.

Last year, Hip-hop musician Black Sherif swept the night’s prizes, taking home a total of five awards (including Musician of the Year). Akwaboah, a highlife singer and songwriter, got three awards, and Eugy and Headie One each won two.

Meanwhile, hip-hop legend Reggie Rockstone was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award, and TiC and Zoro King received special recognition awards.
