Ghanaian Celebrities Mourn Jerry John Rawlings

A number of Ghanaian showbiz personalities yesterday expressed shock over the sudden demise of former President Jerry John Rawlings.

He died Thursday morning at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH) in Accra due to an undisclosed ailment.

The country was thrown into utmost shock and sadness on Thursday after his death reports went viral.

No one had expected the ex-president to bow out that soon.

Some top Ghanaian showbiz personalities joined Ghanaians to express their condolences via various messages on their social media platforms.

“#sadDay 2020 What a year (crying emoji) my condolences to the entire family. Rest In Peace Excellency Jerry Rawlings (crying emoji),” actress Juliet Ibrahim tweeted on Thursday.

“This morning while driving past the military base at Teshie, I was looking out at the ocean and remembering my late Romanian grandmother, and what I always recollect is what she said about J.J. Rawlings, that he was a remarkable President. And this afternoon I hear this. (Heartbroken),” musician Sister Deborah said on Twitter.

Actress Elaine Attoh also shared the ex-president’s photo on Instagram and wrote “Ghana has lost one of the greatest Presidents ever. My President. Rest well Sir. Rest in Power Soldier of all soldiers. I love you. Your legacy will never be forgotten.”

“Rest Well (crying emoji) sad day (crying emoji) hmmm,” actress Abena Ghana also said on her Instagram after sharing his photo.

Music producer, Appietus wrote, “Daddy Rest In Peace (crying emoji) My Condolences to the family.”

Many other personalities across the country have shared posts in honour of ex-President Rawlings, one of the most loved Presidents of Ghana.
