The 2017 edition of Ghana’s Most Influential (GMI) Awards is scheduled for May 2017, the organizers have announced.
Over 400 personalities from all walks of life have been nominated by the general public for the awards.
Since the call for entries were opened from December 2016 to February 2017, thousands of Ghanaians have joined the race to select individuals who they think have positively influenced their lives during the period under review.
GMI Awards is an annual event aimed at recognising and celebrating top 100 most influential Ghanaian personalities through public voting.
According to Naomi Nelson-Barnes, head of trade and marketing at Global Media Alliance Broadcasting Company (GMABC), the calibre of people nominated for the 7th edition of the Awards are sportsmen, entrepreneurs, statesmen, philanthropists, entertainers, politicians and religious personalities, among others.
“The rate at which this event has grown over the years tells us the Ghanaian society acknowledges and appreciates men and women who positively affect their lives. We have collated the names of the various personalities who were nominated by the public. A board made up of editors, industry players and auditors will shortlist the over 400 names to 100,” she said.
Over the years, organisers of the GMI event have empowered Ghanaians to select individuals who contribute positively to their lives in diverse ways. The event is a Global Media Alliance initiative and organised by ETV Ghana.
