Girl, 6, Burnt To Death At Domeabra

Scenes from the fire accident

A Kindergarten (KG) 2 pupil of the Dream School at Sefwi Domeabra in the Wiawso Municipality of the Western North Region has burnt beyond recognition in a wild fire which consumed part of the school.

The charred body of the 6-year-old pupil, Phyllis Afriyie was discovered after fire officials had extinguished the fire that had been blazing for several hours.

Per report, the pupil of the private school was feeling unwell and was asleep in one of the rooms in the school when the unfortunate incident occurred.

Confirming the incident, the Deputy Commander of the Western North Regional Fire Service Command, Michael Nunoo, explained they had no information about somebody trapped in the building, hence their focus was solely on dousing the fire.

He however noted the school authorities made a complaint of a missing pupil who was resting after falling ill in class when they had completed their exercises.

“It was during crime scene management that the body of Phyllis was found in bed, burnt beyond recognition,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Sefwi Wiawso Divisional Police Headquarters has initiated investigations into the incident after conveying the body to the Sefwi Wiaso Government Hospital morgue.
