Obuor (R) and her competitors-Kate Agyemang and Janet Mensah on the podium
GNPC Ghana Fastest Human Athletics’ club duo, Grace Obuo and Sarfo Ansah, ran spiritedly to distinguish themselves at the Cape Coast meet on Saturday.
Obuo, the 2019 African Games Bronze medalist in the 400 metres, shrugged off stiff challenge from all sprinters in the 100 and 200 metres.
The sprint double feat makes Obuo Ghana’s fastest woman so far this year.
The showdown, which observed all the COVID-19 protocols, marks the beginning of their journey for a ticket to represent Ghana at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games this July.
Likewise, Ansah recorded a sprint double win in the 100 and 200 metres.
Founder and CEO of the Ghana Fastest Human Race, Reks Brooby, described the sprint gathering as successful, taking into account the high level of competition in spite of the long break due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The next stop for the GNPC Ghana’s Fastest Human train is Accra at the University of Ghana Legon on April 10.
The initiative aimed at reviving short distance running in schools and to raise a team for this year’s Olympics is sponsored by GNPC, GCB Bank, Adidas, Kriate Konsult, Wrenco printing and Global Media Alliance.
