Govt Dismisses NDC’s Recruitment Claims As Baseless

Fatima Abubakar

The Akufo-Addo-led Government has categorically denied claims by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) that it is engaging in last-minute recruitments, describing the allegations as baseless and unfounded.

According to the Information Minister, Fatima Abubakar, the operations of the Transition Team do not suspend government activities, and there was no agreement to halt recruitment processes or payments by the government.

The NDC’s Transition Team had threatened to reverse what they described as “last-minute recruitments” initiated by the outgoing administration, but Fatima Abubakar emphasized that the current administration remains legitimate until midnight of January 7.

She clarified that the roles of key government entities, including the Finance Ministry and the Controller and Accountant-General, remain intact during the transition.

Fatima Abubakar also addressed concerns regarding recent recruitment, noting that no new warrants for recruitment had been issued since the election.

She explained that the Interior Ministry and the Health Ministry had already put out public releases informing nurses to go onto the portal to start their recruitment processes.

The government’s dismissal of the NDC’s recruitment claims has sparked a heated debate, with many questioning the motives behind the NDC’s allegations.

While the NDC has accused the government of trying to pack the civil service with its loyalists, the government has maintained that its actions are legitimate and within its authority.

The controversy has raised concerns about the transition process and the potential for last-minute decisions that could impact the incoming administration.

However, Fatima Abubakar’s assurance that the government is acting within its authority has helped to allay some of these concerns.

In a related development, the Information Minister has emphasized that the government’s actions are guided by the law and the constitution and that it will continue to act in the best interests of the country.
