WORKS AND Housing Minister, Samuel Atta Akyea, has commended management of Forever Construction and Consultancy Limited (FCCL) for its affordable housing scheme.
According to the Minister, the initiative has the potential of taking care of the accommodation challenges confronting average Ghanaians.
As a result, he has suggested to private sector players like FCCL to help government take its affordable housing project a notch higher.
Mr Atta Akyea was speaking at FCCL’s Awudome Estate office in Accra during its 10th anniversary and Affordable housing project launch.
According to the Minister, his outfit had rolled out programmes to encourage a mortgage regime.
“I am happy this is coming from the private sector. We want the private sector to partner government to push this agenda.”
He added that “the housing system is changing. New methods of building are emerging; where houses are completed within a short space of time, but we demand expertise. I charge other private institutions to follow suit.”
Head of Corporate and Strategy at FCCL, Cecil Owusu Addo, pointed out that the initiative sought to primarily address the numerous housing challenges confronting Ghanaians.
Mr. Owusu Addo also called on government to support the initiative. The two semi-detached housing project is sited at Tsopoli-Agotor, city of Shiloh at the new proposed airport site.
