GROHE, a leading global brand for complete bathroom solutions and kitchen fittings, has announced plans to introduce an all-female intensive plumbing training for Ghanaians in future.
“This is part of GROHEs plan to attract more women into the plumbing business and improve their lives”, Timo Kurz of LIXIL EMENA told DAILY GUIDE.
GROHE recently partnered with the Accra Technical Training Center (ATTC) to train 50 young professionals across Ghana to become professional plumbers and installers of GROHE products.
The education programme is dubbed the ‘GROHE Installer Vocational Training and Education (GIVE) Programme. The 50 beneficiaries, selected from across the country, included 49 males and one female.
Timo Kurz was extremely happy that at least one female was among the beneficiaries of the laudable GIVE programme, pointing out that there was still room for improvement.
“In future, we may consider an all-female training for girls in Ghana to help attract more females into the plumbing sector”, he responded to a question about what GROHE would do to attract more females into plumbing.
Timo Kurz was speaking to the DAILY GUIDE when a team of journalists from Europe, Middle East, North and West Africa visited GROHEs Experience Center and Brand Space in Lisbon, Portugal.
Timo Kurz stated emphatically that the plumbing business is not solely for men therefore there was the need to motivate more women into the sector to help better their lives.
The GIVE programme in Ghana was supported by the Invest for Jobs, a programme of the German Federal Ministry of Economic, Coorperation and Development (BMZ).
The Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Ghana (AHK) also supported the educational programme by providing advisory and the hiring of local teachers at ATTC.
