‘Help Me Find My Wife’s Killers’

Mr Ignatius Aikins-Mensah has called on Ghanaians to help him find the killers of his 53-year-old wife who was recently shot by armed robbers in her shop at Awoshie.

According to Mr Aikins, the killers were using a motorbike and sped off after committing the offence.

An unspecified amount of money was taken away by the hoodlums during the attack.

The deceased, Victoria Aikins-Mensah, was shot in the head when the robbers demanded for her daily sales.

Narrating the incident to DAILY GUIDE, the husband of the deceased said “the incident occurred around 6:30pm on Saturday”.

“I was in the house when my 30-year-old daughter cried out to me that her mum had been shot. When I finally got to the shop, I saw several people gathered in front of the shop and when I entered, I saw my wife lying on the floor in a pool of blood. I picked her up and told her to wake up for me to take her to the hospital but I realized she was already dead,” the grieving husband narrated.

According to him, the police were called in about 30 minutes’ time. A team of personnel from the Accra Regional Police Command came to the scene before personnel from Anyaa Police also arrived.

“It was after the arrival of the Anyaa Police that the body was taken to the Police Hospital Morgue for preservation”, he added.

Mr Aikins-Mensah averred that two ladies, a cashier and a sales girl, who have been assisting the wife in the shop, told the police that they were in the shop preparing to close for the day when two men sitting on a motorbike arrived and parked in front of the shop.

According to the ladies, “One sat on the motorbike waiting while the other entered the shop pretending to buy credit. Immediately he got to the shop, the suspect pointed a gun at Mrs. Aikins-Mensah and demanded for her daily sales. Her delay in granting his request led to her being shot in the head. The suspect then pointed the gun also at the cashier and asked her to bring the money else she would also be shot like her madam; he then collected the money and bolted”.

When contacted, the Accra Regional Police Commander, DCOP George Alex Mensah, said the police have since begun investigations into the matter.

He urged the public to help with information that would lead to the arrest of the suspects.
