Highway Robbers Strike At Saaman

SOME UNKNOWN highway robbers have reportedly robbed passengers onboard a sprinter bus of their mobile phones and an unspecified amount of money.

The hoodlums, numbering five, who were wielding offensive weapons such as cutlasses and guns, robbed their innocent victims around 5:10pm on October 3, 2023.

Without showing any mercy, the heartless robbers stopped the moving vehicle and ordered the passengers to lie on the floor as they (the robbers) seized their money and phones.

Afterwards, the hoodlums, who wore masks to cover their faces, then fled through the bush with their booty, leaving their hapless victims to groan over their misfortune.

A police report from Nkawie in the Ashanti Region, which confirmed the incident said, by the time police reached the crime scene, the hoodlums had vanished into thin air.

“On 03/10/2023 at about 17:20hrs information was received that robbery was ongoing between Wioso and Seidi stretch,” a police report cited by the DAILY GUIDE disclosed.

It said, “Police on receipt of the information, proceeded to the scene at Saaman, about 400meters to Wioso and met a Sprinter bus with registration number, AS 7283-14 with its passengers onboard lying on the ground.

“Spot investigation revealed that same day at about 17:10hrs, the said Sprinter bus being driven by Adams Alhassan was coming from Bonteso to Nkawie and on reaching that section of the road, five men with one wielding short gun and others cutlasses with masks, suddenly emerged from the bush, and ordered the driver to stop.

“Thereafter attacked and robbed them of their mobile phones and unspecified amount of money and bolted into the bush on sensing danger,” the police document noted.

The police, the report said, then searched the crime scene but the robbers could be not be traced, adding that “The scene will be re-visited for possible clue to trace the perpetrators.”
