CHIEF Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA), Mike Oquaye Jnr., has urged traditional and religious leaders as well as youth in the GãDagme to use the annual Homowo festival to promote unity and peace among the communities in the Greater Accra region.

Mr. Oquaye Jnr. made the appeal to stakeholders when he graced an event organised by the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Calvary Congregation in Haatso, as a special guest for the Homowo thanksgiving and traditional service in Accra last Sunday.

Speaking on the theme; “Christ In You, The Hope Of Glory: The Homowo Aspect,” the Free Zones Chief Executive Officer inspired the youth to embrace the unity and hope that the Homowo festivity presents and urged them to be proud of being part of the Dome-Kwabenya constituency and the Ga community at large.

He entreated the congregants to “embrace the utmost significance of unity in our nation, highlighting our shared destiny as a people.”

Mr. Oquaye Jnr. also called on the church members to pray for the stability of the country, in light of the unsettling events within West Africa sub-region and across the globe.

In a heartfelt gesture of generosity, Mr. Oquaye Jnr. made contribution to the church, underscoring his commitment to the spiritual well-being of the congregation and the broader community of Dome-Kwabenya.

In a related development, the youth wing of Dome-Kwabenya Constituency have also expressed appreciation to the Freezones boss for supporting the Homowo games organised during the festive season.

Homowo games held at Kwabenya school park, according to the youth wing, was aimed at using sport to promote unity, while projecting the party’s achievements.

The event, which brought together the vibrant youth in the Dome-Kwabenya community, was equally aimed at fostering a sense of togetherness and raising awareness about the political party’s values.

At the end of the homowo games, a team from Ashongman Village emerged victorious after beating Kwabenya team in a penalty shootout.

The platform, the youth explained, was also used as medium to encourage the constituents to get registered in the limited registration exercise of the Electoral Commission (EC).
