Nana Adwoa Awindor
Nana Adwoa Awindor, mother of award-winning songstress, Efya Nokturnal, has added her voice to recent debate about legalising same-sex marriage in Ghana.
According to the veteran broadcaster, those who are calling for same-sex marriage to be legalised should reconsider their decision because an overwhelming majority of Ghanaians don’t support it.
Nana Adwoa, who was speaking on Agyenkwa FM, indicated that she is one of those Ghanaians.
“As a Christian, I am talking from a Christian’s point of view that the Bible does not support LGBTQI+, and Ghanaians do not support same-sex marriage. I do not support it too,” she disclosed.
“Since Adam, marriage has been between a man and a woman, but if some people want to include others, it is up to them; we will be judged individually, and we shall all see what will happen,” she added.
She asked those who have been advocating for the rights of LGBTQI+ people and for same-sex marriage to be legalised, to shut up and do their things in their bedroom and not come out to advocate for it to be made legal in order to show it publicly.
“If you are doing your thing do it in your room, for that one no one will have any problem with you, but for you to come out to say we should legalise it, I do not support that,” she added.
Nana Adwoa’s position on same-sex marriage follows that of President Akufo-Addo who said legalising same-sex marriage won’t happen under his presidency.
