Kofi Kinaata
Highlife musician Kofi Kinaata is holding himself up as the ‘true’ Vodafone Ghana Music Awards’ artiste of the year 2020, though the award has officially been handed over to Kuami Eugene.
He allegedly made this claim while speaking on Luv FM’s Oseikrom Top Ten Chart Show on Sunday.
“I know I’m the artiste of the year. It was just on the plaque [for Kuami Eugene] but I knew it’s mine, Kofi Kinaata,” he reportedly said.
The artiste, who is from Takoradi in the Western Region, picked three out of four nominations, including songwriter of the year, most popular song and hiplife song of the year.
Many music observers had tipped Kofi Kinaata to win the artiste of the year award to make it four awards on the night, but that didn’t happen.
“I wanted everything,” he said after he was asked about his expectations going into the awards.
Kinaata, who wouldn’t say he was disappointed, however, was quick to add that it could “have been me too.”
“Looking at the year under review, it was Kofi Kinaata. I know my songs are the best,” he added.
