Richard Ofori Agyeman Boadi, aka ‘Zuba’, being confirmed as Kumasi Mayor
NEWLY CONFIRMED Kumasi Mayor, Richard Ofori Agyeman Boadi, has promised to act based on the advice and wise counsel of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, to help accelerate the development of Kumasi.
According to him, the Asante King is blessed with unique wisdom and vision, therefore he will always treat the advice and suggestions of the revered monarch with great respect, to help change the fortunes of Kumasi in a short time.
“I will act on the advice of Otumfuo,” Agyeman Boadi, who is popularly known as ‘Zuba’ assured, attracting wild applause from a sizable crowd who witnessed his confirmation at the Miklin Hotel in Kumasi on Thursday.
In all, 56 members of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), including elected and appointed assembly members, voted in a ‘Yes or No’ election. Zuba, who is adored in Kumasi, secured 55 ‘Yes’ votes, representing 98.2 percent.
Continuing, he highly commended President John Mahama for honouring him with this appointment, promising that he would work to the satisfaction of the number one gentleman of the land and entire Asanteman.
“I promise that during my tenure as Kumasi Mayor, I will work harder than ever to change Kumasi into a modern city, comparable to international standards,” he boldly promised, and asked for the support of all-and-sundry to succeed.
Zuba, who once served as the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Obuasi, stated categorically that he performed to the satisfaction of all during his time at Obuasi some years ago, adding, “and I will replicate that feat in Kumasi as well.”
Zuba also disclosed that he would practice an open door administration, where all constructive criticism would be welcomed, noting that he would humbly serve and lead the great people of Kumasi to the Promised Land.
