Kwabena Okyere Darko Mensah
The Western Regional Minister, Kwabena Okyere Darko Mensah has debunked media report that he fell and collapsed over a supposed GHC17 million illegal mining commonly called Galamsey proceeds his driver allegedly bolted away with.
Even though his name was not mentioned, the minister strangely reacted to the rumour saying that he had not collapsed.
According to him, the report is false and attempts to tarnish his reputation and detract him from fighting illegal mining in the region.
This follows a news bulletin carried by GHOne that “A Regional Minister collapses as his driver bolts with GHC17 million galamsey proceeds.”
Though Kwabena Okyere Darko Mensah name was not mentioned, he believes that the news report cast innuendo on his person.
In a press statement issued Wednesday October 19, 2022, the minister said that “This news report cast innuendo on my person. It is therefore not strange that for those who are still bent on tarnishing my hard-on reputation and to detract me from executing my duties in service to the people of my region including my unrelenting fight against illegal mining in the region, they have jumped onto this news alert to further their sinister objective.”
He has therefore urged the public to disregard the said report.
“Please be advised that I am well and fit and carrying about my duties in good health and great spirits. I am completely unfazed by these attempts to derail my work. All well-meaning Ghanaians are therefore advised to disregard the said news alert and treat it with the contempt it deserves”, the Minister further stated.
