J B Family Declares War On Killers

THE FAMILY of the slain Abuakwa North Member of Parliament, (MP), Joseph Boakye Danquah-Adu, has tasked his ghost to expose the killers behind his death.

According to the family, the law enforcement agencies are not acting professionally, which is delaying the case; therefore since he [JB Danquah] knows those who killed him, he should expose them with immediate effect for the world to see them.

The family made this appeal while pouring libation on his tomb to mark the one-year anniversary of his death on Saturday in his hometown, Akyem Old Tafo in the Eastern Region.

The Abusuapanin, who tasked the deceased to act, also made a passionate appeal to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to order the security agencies to re-open the whole case.

Although two young men are currently standing trial at an Accra high court over the gruesome murder of the former New Patriotic Party (NPP) MP, the family is insisting that justice might never be served in view of the way the security agencies, particularly the Ghana Police Service, have handled the case so far.

The family, in an earlier petition to the president, indicated, “Credible media reports and preliminary accounts by the prime suspect, Daniel Asiedu, immediately after his arrest, suggest that he was hired to kill J.B. Danquah-Adu, a man who held the centre of our family and thousands of his constituents among others.”

The family noted that “A DAILY GUIDE newspaper publication reported that the suspect, Daniel Asiedu, told the police he was contracted to kill our cousin J.B. Danquah-Adu, for a price of GH¢2,000, part of which he used to buy shoes,” adding, “Interestingly enough, his accounts at the police station changed shortly after he was sent to the BNI cells and subsequently to the court. He claimed to have gone on a robbery expedition.”

Mr. Danquah Adu was murdered at his Shiashie residence in Accra on February 9, 2016. So far, two suspects have been arrested and arraigned before court for allegedly killing JB after allegedly confessing to committing the crime.

The Majority Leader and Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, addressing the media at the JB family cemetery, also asked for fresh investigation into the gruesome murder of the MP.

A brief church service was held by the extended family; and it was attended by NPP heavyweights, including Mr Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu; deputy Majority Leader, Sarah Adwoa Sarfo; Eastern Regional Minister, Eric Kwakye Darfour; his deputy, Joseph Tetteh; Abuakwa North MP and deputy Gender Minister,  Gifty Twum Ampofo; NPP Eastern Regional First Vice Chair, Alhaji Umar Bodinga and other leading members.
