Part of Brobo Jenjemireja road under construction
RESIDENTS OF Jaman South District in the Bono Region have highly commended the government for adding the district to the ‘Year of Roads’ agenda to enhance economic activities in the area.
Five major roads, including Drobo-Gornokrom, 6.5 kilometres (km); Kwame Seikrom-Japekrom, Kwame Seikrom-Bebianiha, 22km; Drobo Jenjemireja, 17.5km; and Benafera-Zezera–Adansi roads, 31.7km, are all being constructed.
According to residents, when completed, their major problems of carting foodstuff from farming communities to the main market centre at Drobo, the district capital, would be a thing of the past.
A taxi driver, Yaw Takyi, who plies Drobo-Jenjemireja, said the road was in a deplorable state, but the government was working hard to fix it, and they were grateful for the effort.
It turned out that the Drobo-Jenjemireja road was awarded in 2016 but was abandoned by the contractor until it was awarded to the current contractor.
Currently, the contractor has completed all concrete works and is swinging into full construction.
Another road that is undergoing speedy construction is the 31.7-km Baanafour Zezera-Adansi road.
The site engineer, Bawa Fridaus-Umar, told DAILY GUIDE that the contract was awarded last September, saying “we are to widen the narrow road and tar it.”
Samuel Obeng Takyi, the Jaman South Constituency Youth Organizer of the NPP, after a tour of projects, revealed that the 6.5-km Drobo town road had also been awarded a contract.
Other roads that are being constructed are Kwame Seikrom-Japekrom and Japekrom- Bebianiha. He thanked the Member of Parliament and the government for the area, whom he said contributed a lot in building schools, health facilities and also influenced the awarding of the road contracts.
