Bishop Stephen Kwasi Appiah
THE CASE of Bishop Stephen Kwasi Appiah, popularly known as ‘Jesus Ahoufe’, who prophesied the death of dancehall artiste, Charles Nii Armah Mensah aka Shatta Wale, has been adjourned to January 25, 2022, for Case Management Conference.
This was after the prosecution had served the accused person and his lawyer with documents including statements of witnesses they intend to rely on, for the trial, as part of disclosures.
The beleaguered pastor was put on trial after he predicted in a supposed prophecy on radio that Shatta Wale was going to be gunned down on October 18, 2021, a day after the musician’s birthday.
He is before an Accra Circuit Court charged with the offense of causing fear and panic.
He was initially remanded into police custody when he first appeared before the court but was later granted a bail of GH¢100,000 with three sureties who are gainfully employed.
He is to report to the police every Monday and Thursday until otherwise ordered by the court.
The accused person’s prophecy led to Shatta Wale pulling a prank that he had been shot, which later landed him in trouble.
The self-acclaimed dancehall king and two of his boys caused a stir when they published a video which instantly went viral claiming that the ‘I Know My Level’ singer had been shot by unknown gunmen following a prophecy by Jesus Ahuofe.
They were similarly arraigned and remanded into prison custody by an Accra Circuit Court last year but were later granted bail when they appeared before the court for the second time.
