An 18-year-old Form Two junior high school (JHS) student has fallen foul of the law for allegedly defiling a 10-year-old girl.
The accused, Kiipo Philip, is reported to have had sex with the victim on September 30, 2016 at Madina Social Welfare in Accra and camped her in his room after the purported act.
In a court presided over by Abena Oppong Adjin-Doku, the accused denied the offence and was remanded into police custody until January 3, 2017.
Prosecuting, Inspector Judith B. Asante said Susana Alekiba is the complainant and that Philip lives with his (Philip’s) brother – one Isaac Kiipo – in the same compound as the complainant and the victim.
Inspector Judith Asante said sometime in September 2013, Philips’ brother whom he was residing with was on transfer to Kumasi and as such left him in the care of the complainant and her husband, one Michael Alekiba.
The prosecutor indicated that on September 20, 2016 at about 7:50 pm, Susan went out with her husband; the accused took advantage of their absence, `lured the victim into his brother’s room and had sex with the minor.
Insp. Asante said when the complainant and her husband returned home, they could not find the victim adding, “They asked Philip the whereabouts of the victim but he said he had sent her to buy medicine for him.”
The court further heard that the complainant then traced the girl to the said pharmacy but could not find her, indicating that when the door of Philip was forcibly opened, the girl was found sitting in a chair in the room.
The victim then narrated he ordeal to her mother, leading to the arrest of Philip.
