John Boadu Pledges One Constituency, One Office

John Boadu, acting General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party

ACTING GENERAL Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu, has pledged to ensure the construction of one permanent office in each of the 275 constituencies nationwide for the running of the party.

Mr. Boadu made the pledge as he rounded up his campaign tour of the Central Region, as he seeks to become the substantive General Secretary of the NPP.

According to Mr. Boadu, who at the time of filing this report was in the Ashanti Region campaigning, the construction of the offices would be done by the end of his four-year tenure as the party’s General Secretary.

The Acting General Secretary, who doubles as the National Organizer of the NPP, said the offices shall be equipped with relevant furnishing and Information Technology (IT) infrastructure befitting the status of the party.

Similarly, Mr. Boadu intimated that the regions shall have permanent party offices.

Currently, the party at the regional level, is being operated from rented structures with the exception of Upper West, which is the only region in the country that has a permanent party secretariat.

He believes it’s time to change the status quo for the better, vowing to do the needful.

He is convinced that without proper and functional party structures on the ground, it will be difficult for the party to remain in power for more than 40 years as envisaged.

Whilst in the Central Region, Mr. Boadu and his team visited each of the 23 constituencies in the region where they interacted with delegates comprising mainly constituency executives and MMDCEs.

Ashanti Tour

In the Ashanti Region, Mr. Boadu, is expected to meet and interact with the constituency executives of all the 47constituencies of the region ahead of the party’s 2018 National Annual Delegates Conference scheduled for July 7 in Koforidua, the Eastern regional capital.

On day one of his Ashanti regional tour, he met constituency executives of the Ejura Sekyeredumasi, Afigya Sekyere East, Nsuta Kwaman Piposo, Mampong, Ejisu, Juabeng, Kumawu, Afigyease, Brobonsu, Asante Akyem North, Asante Akyem South, Asante Akyem Central and Bosomefreho constituencies.

He informed the executives of his mission not only to campaign, but more importantly, to listen to their concerns particularly their relationship with government appointees including MMDCEs and also, how their constituents are responding to government policies and programmes.

The delegates, on their part, pledged to vote massively for him, adding that, as far as they were concerned, there is absolutely no contest for the General Secretary position since he is the only one they know and can vouch for at all times.
